Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines family football scholarship with community service. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who took care of him at their farm in Eufala. Second football he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. In the three years that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, he received his third scholarship, and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. The first job he had was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's top 10 young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named him on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
